Presentor notes for Conceptual Nursing Models free essay sample

Slide 1 †This is Sister Calista Roy. Sister Roy’s Adaptation Model, alluded to as RAM, was created in 1960, yet she kept on growing her applied model as the years progressed. In the accompanying slides, we will visit a portion of the fundamental segments of Sister Roy’s Adaptation Model of Nursing Concept. We have talked about the a wide range of applied nursing models that influence the manner in which we approach how we treat our patients. As a gathering, we chose Roy’s Adaptation Model (RAM) since it is the model we as a whole most relate to. While surveying the different reasonable models, we found that RAM, when used utilized as an evaluation apparatus, is an incredible idea in how to address or patients as entire people instead of only an ailment or analysis. It causes medical caretakers to consider the entirety of the components that might be influencing the patient, regardless of whether they are adding to the loss of wellbeing or being proficient in helping to recapture wellbeing. In the accompanying slides, we will tell the best way to use RAM in surveying the patient, distinguishing nursing determinations and components influencing the patient’s wellbeing, and making nursing care designs and fitting objectives dependent on this data. At last, the objective is for us as medical attendants to distinguish what’s wrong and how we can adequately help the patient in making changes to fix it. The RAM assists with incorporating the entirety of the components influencing this procedure, not simply the physical ones. Slide 2 The RAM reasonable model perceives the person as having bio-psychosocial parts that influence their wellbeing. The medical caretaker empowers and helpers in helping adjustment to these individual segments by altering outer upgrades. The 4 different ways an individual adjusts as per the RAM are: 1. Physiological †The essential physical needs required for endurance. (E. g. food, water, oxygen, and so on ). 2. Self-Concept †This is the manner by which an individual sees themselves or how they see themselves within the sight of others in their condition. 3. Job Function †This alludes to how an individual socially connects with others and their requirement for social respectability. This can be found in their jobs and obligations throughout their life, for example, being a parent, an expert, or a companion. 4. Association †This alludes to how an individual communicates with others to find support, fondness and consideration. Slide 3 These segments help medical attendants to consider the various aspects of every individual so the patient may saw as a multi-dimensional being, with the entirety of the alternate points of view of what influences every individual contemplated as a feature of the nursing evaluation. For instance, first, what fundamental and quick physical needs should be tended to? Besides, how does the patient’s self-idea influence their general state? Thirdly, how do the patient’s jobs throughout their life influence their capacity for self-care? Lastly, how does that patient approach getting what they should be well? Is it accurate to say that they are ready to request help? Are their strategies for getting consideration successful or pointless? These are instances of inquiry medical caretakers pose to themselves as thought for the entirety of the elements influencing their patient’s all out condition of prosperity. Slide 4 The RAM fuses the four metaparadigm ideas of nursing, which are: individual, wellbeing, condition, and nursing. The first metaparadigm of nursing tends to the individual. The individual isn't only somebody in the bed debilitated at the emergency clinic. Nursing is worried about them as an individual in setting to whatever condition they are in. The individual can be wiped out or well. They might be considered as an individual or as a major aspect of a family or network. Smash relates on the grounds that Roy thought about that as an individual may have an individual self-idea, yet they additionally see themselves comparable to others in their condition whether that be their family, boss, network, and so forth. The second metaparadigm, wellbeing is relative. An individual may have terminal malignant growth, however they see their personal satisfaction as great and feel solid on the grounds that their present medications are calming side effects for the present and their every day life remains generally flawless. In like manner, an individual can be genuinely solid however sincerely and mentally unfortunate. Slam tends to wellbeing likewise. In RAM, an individual is a bio-psychosocial being. The medical attendant is thinking about the entire individual and their impression of themselves in their entire condition. Wellbeing here is likewise relative in light of the fact that the patient’s recognition is mulled over. Slide 5 The third metaparadigm with respect to condition, the medical attendant considers not simply the prompt physical condition, for example, the emergency clinic bed or center, yet in addition whatever condition the patient is in. This could include both exacting and non-literal adaptations of their home life for instance. All the interior and outer impacts that influence that individual are considered similar to a piece of nature in which they live. A model may be that while a person’s physical home is decrepit, run down and without current utilities and adequate measures of warmth or food, their family is solid, steady, cherishing and totally useful inside their impediments. A substitute model would be a home that is attached with the entirety of the cutting edge civilities, spotless, warm and loaded with food, water and anything a kid could request. Nonetheless, if a kid lives in this apparently immaculate home, however a cherishing, steady and caring guardian is either never present or if there is brokenness in the relational intricacies, for example, liquor addiction or misuse, this effects the earth overall. The RAM thinks about that the patient is influenced by their condition and enables the medical caretaker to concentrate on the most proficient method to help them in adjusting for a positive result. At last, the fourth metaparadigm is that of nursing. Attendants care for people just as networks, the wiped out and the solid, by advancing by and large wellbeing. Attendant may go about as a consideration supplier by watching out for sure fire physical requirements of by setting aside the effort to tune in or advocate for the patient when they can't for themselves. The attendant adjusts as per what the patient should be well. Slam relates here also in light of the fact that the job of the medical caretaker changes as indicated by what the individual needs to adjust so as to accomplish their wellbeing objectives and a general improved condition of wellbeing. Slide 6 †There are 3 explicit ways RAM can be utilized to improve nursing practice: figure as evaluation instrument, use said apparatus to frame nursing analyze, and to set objectives. In slide #6, we talk about the evaluation instrument. To utilize RAM as the premise of an evaluation instrument, the medical caretaker would utilize the four adaption methods of physiological, self-idea, job capacity and reliance to assemble relevant information about the patient. For the physiological mode, the attendant would evaluate every one of that has to do with the physical body. Key physical evaluations, for example, indispensable signs, heart, lung and gut sounds, skin condition, for example, turgor, shading, rising, neurovascular appraisal including course, development and sensation, admission and yield designs with sustenance and liquid status contemplations are for the most part instances of information acquired as a feature of the physiological method of appraisal. For the self-idea mode, the medical attendant would survey how a patient perspectives themselves and comparable to other people. A case of this would be a 60yr old female patient with colon disease who may be feeling discouraged and unsure about the colostomy she should spare her life. For the job execution mode, the medical caretaker would survey what impact the sickness may have on the patient’s life as far as their jobs and duties as they see them. For instance, a dad may be concerned that he won't have the option to accommodate his family monetarily. Or then again, maybe a lady who possesses a privately-owned company might be worried that the weight of working the business while additionally thinking about her youngsters is laying exclusively on her mate while she is sick and incapable to help with the every day obligations. In the reliance mode, the medical attendant would survey the patient’s emotionally supportive network. For instance, an older lady who lives alone and has poor visual perception may be concerned that her family won't have the opportunity to help her at home with her meds or be too glad to even consider asking for help to the bathroom when she needs help. Slide 7 †An optional evaluation is utilized to figure out what upgrades are influencing the versatile or absence of versatile conduct. Improvements influencing the patient’s reaction can be central, relevant or lingering. Here is a patient model where we can look and the changed boosts: A 50yr elderly person who presents with a compounding of COPD. Upon conversation and physical appraisal, the medical attendant finds that the patient has a lot of worry at home, for the most part because of his constant ailment and keeps on smoking notwithstanding his lung condition. He is just decently agreeable, best case scenario with his suggested prescription routine as endorsed by his primary care physician and concedes he doesn’t realize how to appropriately utilize his inhaler. An engaged aspiratory evaluation sounds uncover tight aviation routes with moderate discharges and respective wheezing and lower projection rhonchi. These finding are separated into various sorts of improvements as follows: Focal-Sputum and limited aviation routes in a patient whose lung sounds uncover wheezing and rhonchi. Relevant Patient history of COPD while having poor information on the best way to self-deal with the illness. Lingering The patient with COPD who keeps on smoking to manage worry in his/her family life. A viable evaluation instrument is expected to gather and report information on our patients so what we can distinguish variations from the norm and screen for changes. The evaluation device assists with the congruity of care so the following medical caretaker knows the patient’s standard status as the person in question plays out their own appraisal. Slide 8 †To utilize RAM as an apparatus to frame a nursing analysis, the medical attendant gathers

Green Building Challenge

Green Building Challenge I competed in the Green Building Challenge as part of this years Bad Ideas Weekend. From 9 PM to 1 AM, a total of 86 students representing 11 teams competed to see who could climb up the 18-story Green Building the greatest number of times. I couldnt have done it without them! My team, comprised of nine students from Hex  (MacGregor Houses H-Entry) ended up placing third, with a total of 103 climbs! I climbed the Green Building a total of 22 times, alongside my teammates Daniel A. 21 and Antonio B. 22. Daniel wore light-up shoes, which ran out of battery mid-competition. Antonio wore a Garmin watch, which he used to record his heart rate for all 22 climbs. Antonios heart rate data reflected our 22 climbs incredibly well. The process for each climb was simple: start in the basement, climb to the 18th floor, take the elevator back to the basement. The 22 rise-and-fall sequences in Antonios heart rate data corresponded exactly to how we structured each rep. After each strenuous climb, we spent a few minutes on the 18th floor, where we first  made sure to record our climb on the team scoresheet. We then took our pick of the water, Gatorade, and snacks available to competitors before taking the elevator back down to the basement. These few minutes of rest allowed Antonios heart rate to decrease significantly, creating a consistent rise-and-fall pattern. The data even reflected our breaks. After our first few repetitions, we got tired and decided to take two breaks each climb â€" first on the 7th floor and again on the 13th floor. On the graph, there are several climbs where the Antonios heart rate dips twice, reflecting these two breaks. Take a look at climbs 9 and 13, for example. For some reason I still dont understand, we decided to do a no breaks climb every 10 climbs. Sure enough, Antonios heart rate on climbs 10 and 20 shows a smoother increase than the other climbs where we did take breaks. These climbs are take less time relative to those preceding them. The 86 people who took on this years Green Building Challenge implemented a diverse variety of strategies in their quests for victory. Individual climb totals ranged from an impressive 37 climbs to a hilarious -4 climbs. Negative repetitions happened when people took the elevator up to the 18th floor, and then took the stairs back down to the basement. I represented the distribution with a histogram, shown below. In the end, teams Beast and Slugfest battled for first, beating the other nine teams by a huge margin. In last place, team 41W accomplished a net of zero by accumulating a few normal reps and cancelling them out with an equal number of negative ones.  The majority of the teams consisted of East Campus residents belonging to a specific floor, such as Beast, Slugfest, 2 East, etc. To my knowledge, this is Hexs first year competing â€" but we certainly didnt have rookie numbers! I think we did a good job representing West Campus. I wanted to look more closely at Beast and Slugfest, especially in comparison to Hex, to strategize for next years challenge. Both teams had almost double the number of team members than us,   so Ill definitely be recruiting more people. Interestingly, our mean repetitions per student (11.4) was not too much lower than Slugfests (13.2). Based on my experience completing 22 reps, I think Hex might be able to surpass Beasts impressive mean of 17.3 reps per student with enough training. I also compared the general distribution of the three teams. While Slugfest had more people doing low reps than Beast, these gains were erased by the 2 people on Beast who completed 35 or more reps. Based on this, for next years Hex team, Ill be focusing my energy on recruiting people willing to do higher reps. Of course, one rep is better than none. Im happy to have had the support of  all my team members, whether they did one climb or 22. The Green Building Challenge was definitely a Bad Idea. I had a tremendous amount of fun and found it to be a great bonding experience with my teammates! Most importantly, it made for some Good Data.  You can find all my code and data for the graphs in this post here. Thank you to Shuli J. 22 for the overall challenge data! The Green Building (also known as Building 54) is the tallest building in Cambridge. When it was built in 1964, the city of Cambridge dictated that no building should have more than 18 stories. The brilliant architect I. M. Pei  (a graduate of MIT!) evaded the citys limit by designing the tower to rest on several stilts. The images on  Google Earth  highlight how much it towers over the rest of the Cambridge skyline. The legal loophole proved to be useful to the  Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, which uses special meteorological and radio communications equipment situated on the Green Buildings roof. The many windows were also perfect for a hack â€"  playing Tetris! Post Tagged #Bad Ideas Weekend #East Campus #Green Building #Hex

Chivalry in Edmund Burkes Reflections on the Revolution...

Chivalry in Edmund Burkes Reflections on the Revolution in France ...But the age of chivalry is gone... Amidst a wealth of metaphors and apocalyptic maxims, this line is perhaps the most memorable from Edmund Burkes Reflections on the Revolution in France. He masterfully employs the concept of chivalry to express his anti-revolutionary sentiment, and he dramatically connects it to images of land, sex, birth and money to express the widespread disorder that accompanies a loss of chivalry. Nowhere is this idea more explicit than in the following passage: ...–But the age of chivalry is gone. —That of sophisters, oeconomists, and calculators, has succeeded and the glory of Europe is extinguished for ever. Never, never more,†¦show more content†¦What it does imply is that the glory and bond of Europe as a conglomerate in which England and France are leaders may have been severed. Furthermore, it is unlikely that Burke believes either of the aforementioned statements. Subsequent lines in the essay like, ...we still bear the stamp of our forefathers and We have not (as I conceive) lost the generosity and dignity of the fourteenth century... suggest that English society still clings to its heritage and manners to some extent (18). Additionally, one cannot overlook the prophetic nature of Burkes claims; he predicts what will happen if chivalry is lost. He and the reader both recognize that chivalry survives at least in the minds of men and sometimes even in the practice of men (like Burke who acts chivalrous by defending chivalry), but also because Burkes motivation for writing his essay would be significantly diminished if the revivification of chivalry were an impossibility. Similarly, if he truly believed that the glory of Europe were gone forever and the ties permanently severed, it is less likely that he would choose a Frenchman as the recipient of his philo sophical letter. To comprehend Burkes argument based on chivalry, one must ascertain the meaning that chivalry holds for him. To Kill a Mockingbird Summary

Published in 1960, To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the most influential novels of the 20th century. It tells a story of racism, moral courage, and the power of innocence that has influenced several generations’ ideas about justice, race relations, and poverty. Part 1 (Chapters 1-11) To Kill a Mockingbird is narrated by Jean Louise Finch, a 6-year-old girl usually referred to by her nickname, Scout. Scout lives in Maycomb, Alabama with her brother Jem and her father Atticus, who is a widower and a prominent attorney in town. The novel opens in 1933 when the town—and the entire country—is suffering the effects of the Great Depression. A young boy named Dill Harris arrives with his family for the summer and immediately forms a bond with Scout and Jem. Dill and Scout agree to get married, but then Dill spends more time with Jem than her, and Scout begins to regularly beat up Dill as a way of forcing him to honor their betrothal. The three children spend their days and nights pretending and playing games. Dill becomes interested in the Radley Place, a house on the Finch’s street where the mysterious Arthur Boo Radley lives. Boo does not leave the house and is the subject of much rumor and fascination. When the summer ends, Scout must attend school and does not enjoy the experience. She and Jem walk past the Radley house every day to and from school, and one day Scout discovers that someone has left presents for them in a hollow of a tree outside the Radley house. This continues throughout the school year. When summer comes around again, Dill returns, and the three children pick up where they left off, play-acting the story of Boo Radley. When Atticus realizes what they’re doing, he tells them to stop and to think of Arthur not as a figure of fun, but as a human being. The children are chastened, but on the last night before Dill goes home again, the children sneak into the Radley house. Nathan Radley, Arthur’s brother, is enraged and shoots at the intruders. The children scramble to escape and Jem loses his pants when they become caught and torn. The next day Jem goes to retrieve the pants, and finds they have been sewn and cleaned. Jem and Scout return to school and find more presents in the tree. When Nathan realizes that Boo is leaving them gifts, he pours cement into the hollow. One evening their neighbor Miss Maudie’s house catches fire and the community organizes to put it out. As Scout stands shivering to watch the flames, she realizes someone has slipped behind her and put a blanket over her shoulders. She is convinced it was Boo. A terrible crime rocks the small town: a black man with a crippled arm named Tom Robinson is accused of raping a white woman, Mayella Ewell. Atticus Finch reluctantly agrees to defend Robinson, knowing that otherwise he will not get anything close to a fair trial. Atticus experiences anger and pushback from the white community for this decision, but refuses to do less than his best. Jem and Scout are also bullied because of Atticus’ decision. At Christmas the Finches travel to Finch’s Landing to celebrate with relatives. Calpurnia, the family cook, takes Jem and Scout to a local black church, where they discover that their father is revered for his decision to defend Tom, and the children have a wonderful time. Part 2 (Chapters 12-31) The next summer, Dill is not supposed to come back but rather to spend his summer with his father. Dill runs away and Jem and Scout attempt to hide him, but he is soon compelled to go home. Atticus’ sister, Alexandra, comes to stay with them to look after Scout and Jem—especially Scout, who she insists needs to learn how to act like a young lady and not a tomboy. A mob of angry people come to the local jail intending to lynch Tom Robinson. Atticus meets the mob and refuses to let them pass, daring them to attack him. Scout and Jem sneak out of the house to spy on their father and are there to see the mob. Scout recognizes one of the men, and she asks after his son, who she knows form school. Her innocent questions embarrass him, and he helps to break up the mob in shame. The trial begins. Jem and Scout sit with the black community in the balcony. Atticus puts up a brilliant defense. The accusers, Mayella Ewell and her father Robert are low-class people and not very bright, and Atticus demonstrates that Bob Ewell had been beating Mayella for years. Mayella propositioned Tom and attempted to seduce him. When her father walked in, she made up the story of rape to save herself from punishment. The wounds that Mayella suffered that she said Tom inflicted would not be possible because of Tom’s crippled arm—in fact, the wounds were inflicted by her father. Bob Ewell is surly and angry that Atticus has made him a fool, but despite these efforts, the jury votes to convict Tom. Tom, despairing of justice, tries to escape from jail and is killed in the attempt, shaking Scout’s faith in humanity and justice. Bob Ewell feels humiliated by Atticus, and begins a campaign of terror against everyone involved, including the judge in the case, Tom’s widow, and Scout and Jem. On Halloween, Jem and Scout go out in costume and are attacked by Bob Ewell. Scout cannot see well due to her costume and is terrified and confused. Jem is badly injured, but Boo Radley suddenly rushes to their assistance, killing Bob Ewell with his own knife. Boo then carries Jem to the house. The sheriff, recognizing what has happened, decides that Bob Ewell tripped and fell on his own knife, declining to investigate Boo Radley for the killing. Boo and Scout sit quietly for a while, and she sees that he is a gentle, kind presence. Then he returns to his house. Jem’s injury means he will never be the athlete he hoped to be, but will heal. Scout reflects that she now can see Boo Radley as Arthur, a human being, and she embraces her father’s moral view of the world despite its imperfections.

Agricultural biology Free Essays

Agriculture is a branch of biology that studies the wide scope of crops like rice, corn, cassava, etc. and its practical applications. Enormous issues related to agriculture have been raised daily by the community and some analysts. We will write a custom essay sample on Agricultural biology or any similar topic only for you Order Now The most controversial among these is the continuing struggle of every nation on food shortage. Just last May, the issue about â€Å"rice shortage† alarmed the entire world including the United States of America. Rice producers and manufacturers jacked up the price of rice as an immediate response to the crisis. It must be clear though that rice or food shortage is also a global concern, may it be caused by the unusual climate changes or even the agriculture itself.   In an audio podcast of â€Å"A Farmers View on Food Shortage†, the speaker emphasizes that the food crisis could be brought by global warming and industrialization. This global warming could produce inconsistent climate conditions which affect weather patterns that may prolong drought and cool seasons leading to a massive starvation even in the United States because of food crisis. On the latter part of the podcast, David Rai advises that in order to sustain and survive from the food crisis that the people are now facing, they must learn to conserve the use of rice by means of eating fruits, vegetables, and the like although rice has been considered by many as a staple food, highly demanded. The issue of rice, an agricultural aspect of biology, catches the attention of the people at large since it has been considered as the food of life among the greater half of the population located anywhere in the world. But whether or not the problem is about rice shortage or food crisis, the ones to blame are the people themselves and are expected to respond to this problem. And in order to conserve the supply of an agricultural crop like rice, these people should be guided to increase the production of rice, and provide agricultural assistance to those who are in dire need of the basic food of life, â€Å"rice.† How to cite Agricultural biology, Papers

How music effects excercise Essay Example For Students

How music effects excercise Essay Most people in the world who workout are always looking for new ways they can improve their training or ways Just to get more out of an exercise. My question is can listening to music improve your ability to work out more intensely and increase your output? This question of whether or not music is an aid has been a long discussed topic on whether or not music bears any effect on improving ones activity in sport or exercise. Many studies have concluded that music can improve your endurance, extend your workouts and can be used as a mind setting tool. Other studies have mound results that find listening to music while exercising can actually be detrimental and ineffective towards working out. In such studies the claims have been made that music can actually lower your want to exercise, can cause hearing damage and worsen your grip when it comes to weight lifting. The side I personally side with is that of the studies who find music as a positive aid for working out. My reasoning for siding with the side that argues music does improve exercise is from my own personal experience Vive used music to motivate me and it has worked. Now in my question I posed I want to know if music improves your ability to workout and increase your output. To specify ability is not limited to only the physical traits, the effect music has on you mentally while working out will be address as well. Also to define what I mean by increasing output I mean an increase in any of these key factors: aerobic capacity, muscle fatigue and overall mental state. Music itself is made of many components such as tempo, beat, and style of music. Which of the components of music are the ones that help or hinder our ability to exercise? In a survey given to 70 college students (35 males and 35 females) enrolled in an aerobic dance class indicated that 97% of the students felt (perceived influence) that the music affected their performance during aerobic activity (Speller, 1988). Respondents identified the following factors which influenced their aerobic performance: music style (97%), rhythm beat (94%), tempo (96%), lyrics (77%), volume (66%), mood (37%), and melody (17%). These results of the survey show what people perceive as the components or factors of music that have a role in music being used while exercising. The effects music can have on ones performance in exercise can be measured in more than Just apparent workout results. Another effect for example is that listening to music while working out can improve the mental state and feeling associated with exercising. This idea of exercise improving mental state and feelings of exercising were found in a study conducted by Len Karate. In the article of Len Keratins study he makes a statement that says Music in many ways may improve a persons enjoyment and compliance to a fitness program (Karate, 3). This statement sakes the point that with listening to music it can bring more enjoyment out of exercise to a person and make them want to stick with fitness programs more. Music is great while youre running. It can inspire you, stir emotions that help you run faster and harder, says Louise Giraffe and fitness expert for Golds Gym (Giraffe 2005). From Giraffes comment it is evident that music has a positive role in effecting how music effects exercise By Siegfried physical aspects of working out but also the mental region that comes with exercising is made. When people listen to music while exercising, most listen to the type of USIA that is high tempo and loud in nature. Working out with music has been linked to hearing damage, because people tend to play songs at higher volumes to motivate themselves. Hearing thresholds were measured in 12 subjects prior to and following their participation in three experimental conditions: (a) riding a cycle regretted for 20 minutes; (b) listening to a selection of music at an equivalent intensity of 96 db (A) SSP for 20 minutes; and (c) listening to the music while riding the cycle regretted for 20 minutes. Essay About Popular MusicSo in the case of exercise music can be used to template a person to perceivably want to workout more and with great intensity. This case also proves that an athlete can in fact psych themselves up with music and possibly perform better do to the stimulation. Synchronization is an important tool to working out. Research has consistently shown that the synchronization of music with repetitive exercise is associated with increased levels of work output. This applies to such activities as rowing, cycling, cross-country skiing, and running. Musical tempo can regulate movement and thus prolonging performance. In a seminar given by Bacon Meyers he made a statement bout music and synchronization saying Synchronizing movements with music also enables athletes to perform more efficiently, again resulting in greater endurance(Meyers 2008). Meyers statement is significant in that it once again is proving that music has a positive impact upon exercise by enhancing synchronization. Also what this study of synchronization by Bacon proves is that music can have a positive effect of creating a beat or tempo for an athlete to follow and allows them to perform longer, as well as more efficiently. Music can also effect more than mood but also motor skills. Music can impact positively on the acquisition of motor skills. Think back to elementary school days and your initial physical education lessons, which were probably set to music. This is done purposefully according to Maynard who said Music-accompanied dance and play created opportunities to explore different planes of motion and improve coordination (Maynard 2006). What Maynard is saying associate them more positively do to the music used when learning them. A athlete or persons workout flow state has been show to improve with music. Recent research in sports settings has indeed found that music promotes flow tastes. Using a single-subject, multiple-baselines design, Pates, Geographies, Fryer, and Maynard (2003) examined the effects of pre-task music on flow states and netball shooting performance of three collegiate players. Two participants reported an increase in their perception of flow, and all three showed considerable improvement in shooting performance. The researchers concluded That interventions including self-selected music and imagery could enhance athletic performance by triggering emotions and cognitions associated with flow (Pates,Fryer 2003). What the study did as finding that an athlete can use music to tap into his so called natural flow relaxing him/her into a sort of performance mood. Music in this case did have a positive impact on the subjects. All five of the key ways music can affect a persons body are very powerful. The studies conducted and data show that music goes far beyond Just the use as a motivational tool for exercise. What also came with the studies was other ways to apply music to athletics and other areas outside the confines of what is seen as the normal workout environment. The five key ways basically opened up broaden the costive effects music has on physical activity. There have been many studies on the question if music does or doesnt improve physical activity in sports and working out. Most of the studies I have found have proven that music does actually have a positive effect on exercising. With these findings I feel like I am capable of answering my question on whether or not output. I have come to the conclusion support by my research that yes music can in fact improve your ability to exercise and an aid to athletes as well to increase performance. , most studies found music to increase performance. Also, I have arsenal experience to support this claim with working out with music and found it beneficial.

The sacrament of marriage Essay The Roman Catholic Church has a very specific interpretation of marriage and how it should be accepted. Marriage is one of the sacraments. It is one of the ceremonies that the Roman Catholic Church expects a devoted catholic to go through. It is believed to bring you one step closer to God. Marriage is also a covenant, a promise to one another. It is an eternal agreement between two people to allocate themselves to each other. The Catholic Church believes that the relationship between two people should be like the creation story. Adam and Eve are model parents and set an example to all couples. God wants all Catholics to have a bond between each other shown in the creation story.Jesus had a different view to the Old Testament which was that two people become one once they unite. Jesus said No human being must separate what God has joined together, meaning that it is not our job to choose to separate. Jesus was completely against the idea of divorce. The Pope has a similar opinion to Je sus that a man and a woman pledge themselves to one another in an unbreakable alliance meaning that a marriage is unbreakable and that they are choosing to enter an alliance, a life long commitment.Hosea emphasised that marriage was a symbol of Gods covenantal love.He said show your love for a woman who is committing adultery with a lover. He is trying to say that we should be able to forgive if we have sinned against one another. The love between two people should help their marriage survive through a crisis. The Catholic Church believes it is unacceptable for two people to divorce as this is emphasised in the New Testament although it does conflict with Moses teachings who said that divorce was acceptable. Although a marriage can be annulled if it is proven that it was never real or happened for the wrong reasons. One of the main views of the Catholic Church is that marriage is there for two people to become one. There is a special union that a couple shares in a marriage, sexual in tercourse is a sign of this union where two become one. If both partners choose to separate they are still joined after becoming one and God lets no one divide. In a marriage sex is seen as a proper expression of the love of a man and a woman only within marriage. They are able to have children with the encouragement of the church. The churches teachings explain that the sex and the possibility of having a child should not be separated. The church teaches that marriage is the only appropriate relationship, within which sexual intercourse should take place. In a marriage ceremony, two people make a commitment which is done by the marital vows. These vows include what their duties are and what they are expected to do as husband/wife. For richer for poorer is one of the vows meaning that they must stand by each other if they are experiencing any financial difficulties. In sickness and in health meaning that if one partner unfortunately is sick, the other must support them and continue t heir marriage. There are many other vows which explain their responsibilities. The Catechism is a book on moral issues which explains the Catholic Churches views on society. One of the categories that are highlighted in the catechism is that adultery, divorce, polygamy and free union are all offences against the dignity of marriage. Masturbation pornography and homosexual practices are also considered to be sins. The Catholic Church is strongly against any one that does not follow the creation, the uniting of a man and woman.Polygamy is another category that the church does not approve of where some one is married to more than one person. This is explained in 1 kings11: 3 that Solomon had married 700 princesses and also had 300 concubines. Solomon had disobeyed Gods laws and was lead astray by these women. The Catholic Church basically believes that when two people are married they have made a promise and are united. They are able to have sexual intercourse and then be able to have a child. People are expected to keep their vows and accept the moral issues mentioned in the catechism.AO2: Explain how in the course of their marriage the couple would apply these beliefs and highlight specific instances where Christian belief makes a real difference to a healthy marriage, you may include a variety of Christian responses to the beliefs andProblems that arise in marriage (598 words)Many marriages are successful and do not experience any serious problems whereas there are many marriages which do experience serious problems. These problems can be related to their vows or other social problems. Many things can be done to help save a marriage during a crisis with help from the church or groups. When a marriage is going through problems they can often reflect on the vows by keeping them. These marital vows can help resolve problems. For richer for poorer is one of the vows that we are expected to follow. Marriages can run through financial difficulties which can lead to pr oblems. One partner may feel they are unable to live with the other if they are not being supported financially. Marriages running through these difficulties are expected to love each other even if they are experiencing financial problems.Another vow that is expected to help resolve problems is in sickness and in health. This vow means that if either partner is having health problems, the other should support them. Many marriages can break down as one partner may feel they are unable to love and care for them. Using this vow they should be able to continue loving each other and enable them to resolve the problem by making time to care for the person. Two people in a marriage are expected to be together till death do us apart. People can reflect on this vow and help them want to continue the marriage and love each other until either partner dies.A marriage can experience many problems and pressures in society. Marriages can break down for many reasons. Some times there could abuse in the marriage leading the victim to feel the only way out it is to separate. A large percentage of marriages fall out due to one partner committing adultery and the other may feel they cannot forgive. In these situations divorce can be inevitable. A couple may have an annulment if they prove that the marriage was either rushed or one was forced or it happened for the wrong reasons. Once a marriage has been annulled it has the advantage of completely being eradicated from the churches records and are able to re-marry in a catholic church. When a couple is experiencing problems they can get help from the church where there are certain groups organised for marriage problems. They can all receive help from counselling groups such as Marriage and Relate.A couple may feel that they must stay together no matter what due to certain reasons. If children are involved the couple may feel that they have to stay together for them and to prevent the family from breaking up. A couple may stay toget her for religious reasons. They may be religious and determined to keep the marriage together to obey the Roman Catholic views. After having marital problems it could make a relationship much stronger between two people. In an R.E video, R.E collection, I learnt about couples who have truly kept the vow in sickness and in health. Anita and Glenn were together for five months and then married for 6 months. Unfortunately Glenn suffered in an accident and became disabled. Anita was enable to care for him and had to look after her child. She did not divorce Glenn and visits him very often feeling that her marriage is still very alive and true even though she is no longer able to have a sexual relationship with him. This is an example of a true Christian who continues to love her husband in sickness and in health.AO3: Life long marriage is too much for Christians to live up today. The church should be willing to drop this vow. Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer showing that you ha ve thought about more then one point of view. (462 words)I disagree with this statement and that this vow should not be dropped. I think people need someone they can rely on and be able to share the rest of their life with as this is essential in a fast changing world. They can have a future together that they can look forward to. When getting married a couple speak out their vows. The vow death do us part should not be broken as the Roman Catholic Church says. Jesus wanted marriage to be permanent just like his love for the church, which is permanent. He made it clear that he did not like the idea of divorce. A couple should not be parted until one has died.Getting married is necessary to show the couple is ready to make a commitment to each other. A couple needs this security, this commitment to show the eternal unity between two people. Marriage can enable a couple to have stability therefore a couple are able to provide a loving home for children. It gives the couple and childre n security. If the couple have a strong lasting relationship it can prevent adultery. A couples relationship can grow and their love deepens.Jesus made it clear that when two people are joined it is not up to us to decide to separate. Having a divorce is a direct violation to the vows and Jesus teachings. He wanted us to work through what ever problems or difficulties we have in relationships which could help make a couple stronger. How ever in many situations it could help if this vow were to be dropped. Couples might be having serious problems such as physical abuse. If there is abuse in the relationship it may be extremely difficult to get through and divorce could be inevitable. Some relationships could be experiencing insoluble money problems. They could be in debt and the relationship is just not progressing. There could be serious sexual problems in the relationship. One partner may desperately want a child whereas the other may not or one partner may be unable to have childre n. Either way it could cause serious problems leading to divorce.Sometimes relationships have no trust where one partner maybe committing adultery or one partner may not be able to trust the other leaving a very weak relationship as trust is essential in a marriage. Many people feel the love between two people dies out after a while making it impossible for them to be able to make an honest commitment. As people seem to be living longer we are expected to love our partner for a long time the rest of our lives, which can be difficult, and divorce maybe necessary. If children are involved, divorce can have a big impact on their lives.

How to Keep Your Resolutions in 2019

How to Keep Your Resolutions in 2019 Making resolutions each January is the easy part. Sticking to them beyond, say, February, that’s the tricky part. It’s not necessarily the goals themselves that are failing you, though- it could be the way you’re setting them, and the way you’re setting yourself up to implement them. Let’s look at some key strategies for crafting and keeping resolutions for a happy and productive 2019.5 Ways to Keep Your New Year’s ResolutionsWrite them downYour goals and resolutions may be top of mind for you, and you may understand intuitively what they are and how you want to achieve them. But no matter how well you think you’ll be able to keep them in mind, write them down- on a Post-It, in your phone, in a spreadsheet; it doesn’t matter how or where. Just put it in writing. The act of writing helps make your resolutions official. And if you put them somewhere you’re likely to see them often (like at your desk or on your fridge), youâ €™re less likely to lose track of your intentions when you’re back to the daily grind after the holidays.Be realisticThis is probably the most important part of creating actionable and achievable resolutions. Think better self, not necessarily best self. Losing 20 pounds or being fluent in a new language within a year sound great. But how likely  are those to happen? If your goal is vague and lofty, be specific about what you want to achieve and think hard about whether you can achieve it with the time and resources you’ll realistically have available to you throughout the year. Maybe15 pounds by September is a more realistic goal. Perhaps you can take on one hour of French practice with an app every week. The more you think about your real life and what it will take to achieve your goal, the better your resolution will be at the outset.Break them downIf you break your resolutions down into pieces throughout the year, it gives you a series of smaller goals that yo u can accomplish- making it easier to stay on track for the big goals. For example, if your main resolution is to get a new job this year, consider the components of that. You’ll need to update your resume, start looking for job openings, apply for job openings, upgrade your interview outfit, etc. Each of those steps is something you can do in the meantime, and feel good about checking each one off as you complete it.Small wins add up to big wins. And even if you don’t ultimately hit your main resolution by the end of the year, you can look back at these smaller tasks you completed and feel accomplished at what you did and how you did it.Set a time frameI’ve got all year, so I’ll deal with this later. That’s a fatal mindset for any resolution, but especially professional ones. If you’ve already got a job or you’re caught up in daily routines, it can be harder and harder to push out of that comfort zone and do the things you need to do to maintain action toward your resolution.Setting specific due dates for yourself creates accountability, even if you’re the only one who knows they exist. And like breaking your goals down into manageable chunks, timing helps make your goals more achievable on a daily, weekly, and monthly level. Say your goal is to build your professional network throughout the year. Set milestones each month: add two people to your LinkedIn connections; set a coffee date with a different former work colleague each month; post a new update each week about your professional activities. Or if you’re looking for an upgrade at work (new job or a promotion), set interim milestones like having an updated resume by March, doing comprehensive salary research by April, etc.Reward yourselfAchieving your goals is a reward unto itself, sure. But y’know what’s also a reward? Treating yourself for hitting those milestones. Think ahead of time what would be an incentive for you to mak e progress on your resolution. Spa day? An afternoon off and tickets to see your favorite sports team play? It doesn’t have to be huge or expensive, just a gift to yourself for the work you’ve done throughout the year. Anything that helps you keep your interest when things get busy or frustrating, that’s what you want to use as the carrot in front of you.New year’s resolutions can be a great way to reset your thinking and refresh your goals. However, if you’re not approaching them in a way that will help you keep your focus and your interest, what’s the point? The more effort you put into setting yourself up now, the more likely you are to stick to your resolutions, and grow as much as you can in 2019.

Choose one of the following and write a two-three paragraph post Essay

Choose one of the following and write a two-three paragraph post - Essay Example The main point is that men have been forced, in the past at least, to conform to a very limiting stereotype and they have been ridiculed if they dare to step outside of this narrow concept. By defining the word with a perspective of looking back in time, I would hope to encourage people to think about a different approach for the present and the future. Robert Jensen’s technical definition of masculinity is certain psychological or social traits that inherently come with being biologically male and he summarizes this in a more informal form with the phrase the tough guy. The negative aspects of this definition are quite clear to Jensen, and he describes the â€Å"toxic† effects which prevailing ideas of masculinity have on men today. Jensen stresses the cultural values attached to gender divisions, and advises that we do not need the extremes of masculinity and femininity any more, and we should concentrate instead on humanity, which can be shared by people of any gender. I think this is quite unrealistic and that masculinity as a concept is likely to last for a very long time. Rather than banning the use of the term, I would rather see it transformed with new and more positive

Gut Motility Practical assessment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Gut Motility Practical assessment - Essay Example The stimuilation causes a reaction on the membrane. It becomes depolarized. Permeability to calcium ions is also increased. The calcium ions concentration in is increased as a result of the voltage gated calcium-ions channel. From the synaptic cleft ACh is released to fuse with the muscuranic receptors as a result. The Gs protein then activates PLC after phosphoinositides activation. Diacylglycerol and inositol-1,4,5-triphosphate are generated inducing phosphorylation and leading to the regulation of the calcium ion concentration, Burnstock (1972). This is the initialization of the ileum contraction. Diacylglycerol triggers protein kinase C, phosphorylating the target proteins leading to increased Ca+2 instigating contraction. 3. Explain the cellular mechanisms of action of morphine and atropine on field stimulated-induced contractions and how/why this is affected by naloxone, using the data collected from BOTH the field stimulated and the direct ACH-induced contraction of ileum As illustrated from the graphs, it is evident that morphine has no much variance with field stimulated contraction. Atropine however recorded a substantial effect on the ACh-induced contraction. Atropine at concentration levels of between 10-9 and 10−8 M antagonized the contractile response of the tissues causing relaxation of the ileum described by Brenda et.al (1983). Morphine, through Gi-protein, restrains the formation of cAMP (Gracious et.al, 2008). Ca+2 concentrations are increased. Endogenous ACh release is effected. However, for ACh-induced contractions, M3 receptors are exogenously occupied by ACh. This initiates the ileum contraction. This indicates that morphine has minimal effect on ACh action. It restricts about 0.35mm only. Naloxone does not exploit Muscarinic receptors. According to Gillan & Pollock (1980), it behaves like an opioid receptor antagonist. It has insignificant effect on ACh-induced contraction.

Study On Self Reflection Business Essay

Study On Self Reflection Business Essay This chapter deals with the researchers experience during the dissertation. Reflection is important for the self development of an individual. Refection plays a major role in developing as it helps in learning from experience. Reflection helps in reviewing the work constantly from the learning and the experiences. Moon (2004, p.82) defines reflection as â€Å"Reflection is a form of mental processing- like a form of thinking that we may use to fulfil a purpose or to achieve some anticipated outcome or we may simply â€Å"be reflective† and then an outcome can be unexpected†. Reflection can also be related to problems which does not have any possible solution which are based on the knowledge and the understanding that we already have. 6.2 Kolbs reflective learning theory: A model for an experimental learning was developed by Kolb (1984b) called as Kolbs learning cycle. This model is very useful in understanding and it helps in developing reflective learning. Kolb says that learning can be of two ways one is â€Å"abstract- concrete† and â€Å"active-reflective†. There are four stages in a cyclic manner in the Kolb cycle. They are â€Å"abstract conceptualization†, â€Å"active experimentation†, â€Å"concrete experience† and â€Å"reflective observation†. This is shown in the diagram below Entry into one of the four stages can be made at anytime and the model helps in developing when all the stages are fallowed in a sequence manner to learn effectively. Experience alone does not account in the Kolbs learning cycle but it is highly essential how the reflection is made from the experience to form generalizations. These generalisations help to formulate new concepts that will be very useful a concept in a new situation. The theory can be related to the action by proper planning and acting out and reflecting on it and then relating back to the theory. This completes the cyclic process. The cyclic begins when the individual relates the experience which he has gained and relates to other things, and this experience forms the starting point for reflective observation. 6.3 Learning achievement from research: The researcher did his undergraduate in India where the teaching system is completely different. Initially the researcher faced lots of problem with the teaching system and the examination system at Liverpool John Moores University. The assignment system are new in the Liverpool John Moores University. Initially faced many problems while doing the assignments because it was new to do this sort of assignments. The experience which is gained by submitting assignments from the first and second semester has helped in improving the writing skills and thus the experiences which are gained while submitting the assignments helped in writing the dissertation. The research methods module which attended for almost three months in the second semester has helped in getting a clear knowledge about how to do proceed with the dissertation. It helped in knowing the concept of the research, how to do research, what are the different ways in conducting the research, how to frame the questionnaire, how to collect the data. The methodology module helped in gaining a theoretical idea about how the dissertation can be done in different ways. But when it comes to practical it was different and faced problem with the questionnaire and the tutor has helped in correcting the questionnaire. Time management is very important because things which are not done on time will be waste. While doing dissertation the researcher learned how to use time effectively and how to plan the things in the given period of time. Communication plays a main role in order to be a successful in professional life. Communication skills has been increased when it comes speaking English fluently. Without proper communication it is difficult to convey the message clearly. Group work and regularly meeting with tutor has helped in increasing communication skills. Group work has taught so many things especially confidence and motivation. While interacting with colleagues when doing group work and pointing out the mistakes and appreciating the best work has increased lot of confidence. The topic of analysing the performance appraisal of employee at KFC has been chosen because of the interest in Human Resource Management. The idea to do research on this topic came in second semester while attending human resource management classes as one of core modules in the second semester. The human resource management module helped in critically think and evaluating the issues surrounding on this topic. Because of the experience gained while working in this organisation it helped in understanding that the issues the employees faces when it comes to the performance appraisal. This is an attempt to look at one of the problems which the employee faces when it comes to performance appraisal. The process of research began with the literature review. Literature review is very helpful and it is beneficial to the researcher as it helped to identify the possible causes and issue pertaining to the performance appraisal of employee in the organisation. The researcher work is to identify the most and the least significant factors for this study. From the literature review the researcher came to know that from a proper training the performance of the employee can be increased While doing the dissertation the researcher faced many problems. Dr. Karim Menacere helped in clearing all the doubts patiently and advised how to write the dissertation. With the good guidance from tutor the researcher gained knowledge on how to write the dissertation. Continuously meeting with the tutor helped in improving the communication skills. Effective communication played a key role in completing the dissertation. 6.4 Reflection on MBA: The modules in the first and the second semester helped in gaining the knowledge on the subject. By doing the group assignments in the first semester with the colleagues who are from different cultural, social background helped in critically thinking on the topic. When it comes to second semester while reflecting from the experience gained from the first semester, the researcher writing skills and critical thinking has improved a lot. 6.5 Conclusion: In depth has been gained on the subject of the performance appraisal while doing research. How the employee perception towards the feedback, pay and training process will alter the effectiveness of the performance appraisal in the organisation. Communication skills which are developed while interacting with professors, colleagues and friends will help in career. Referring to many text book and journals had helped in critical thinking on the performance appraisal and helped to develop an in depth knowledge on the subject and the analytical skill which were developed during the research will help in the future professional life. This theoretical and practical knowledge will help the researcher in the future.

Egt Task

Although the current Managers are fluent in Korean, it will be important to hire local dialect persons to add to our staff. This will ensure acceptance, communications, and also preventing miss spoken words that me be taken as offensive If not done with the proper tone. Curriculum Instructor certification. Since South Korea converted the KIT- Korea Teakwood Escalation In 1954 Into the World Teakwood Federation, the feeling In Korea Is all Black Belts must hold certificates from the WTFO.This may be Just a financial ploy to collect money room those outside Korea, but the perception exists that if you hold a certificate (called a Okinawa Certificate) you are then legitimate regardless of what country you received the certificate, since all Okinawa certificates originate in Seoul, South Korea. All staff who do not currently hold their given Black Belt rank must be certified by the WTFO prior to submitting an application to be an instructor in our Korea Dugong expansion plans. Since no O kinawa officers exist in the united States, all certifications will be done by Head Master Ken Adulated, 6th Degree Black Belt Okinawa holder.Country of Origin of retail goods. Three primary countries manufacture martial arts apparel (uniforms) and sparring gear. These are Japan, China, and South Korea. While Americans are primarily obsessed by price, and seem to disregard country of orally pride, Korea Is the opposite. It will be critical that all uniforms, belts, and sparring gear ONLY come from South Korea manufacturing companies. To offer anything else is potentially offensive, but should these goods come from China or Japan, it would also be a disgrace since both countries attacked Korea in the last century. B. ProductThe product of Americas Best Teakwood is martial arts lessons. In America, most adults will not allow themselves to stick with a program, and many areas of the program we currently offer need to accommodate the lack of focus for Adult students, and their ability t o Justify quitting. Only 1 of 10 Americans (compared to 1 out of 4 Europeans) has attempted to learn martial arts. Of those 33 million, only 10% stay with It beyond 30 days, leaving 3. 3 million. Of those 3. 3 million only 10% will stay with It another 3-6 months quitting Jest as they prepare to test out of novice level.Of the enameling 330,000 who achieve Green belt/beginner Intermediate, only 10% of those will reach beginner advanced, or Brown Belt. We are left with just 33,000 Brown belts, In the USA, all but 10% quit after Just 30 days at Black belt, higher than any other country in the world. About 330 people are left who continue actual Black belt training, only 10% of those achieve Master level in the USA, Just 33 out of 330 million. Moving into Korea, we must modify our program for the long term goals of students.Parents will require their children attend, and they will attend with them, it will be a Emily event, training multiple days per week for 6-10 years or more. It wil l be important to modify our tuition timeline to not appear to be short sighted Americas with no ling term vision, or they may feel we are looking for short term profit, or will not stay through difficult times. The good news is that Korea has been losing the Gold Medals at the Olympics to other countries and is accepting of Americas teaching teakwood and they have fond respect for the Lopez family of Houston Texas, multiple Gold Medal winners. We will leverage our affiliation with the Amateur Athletic Union with Coach Lopez. We will use this for credibility but not for promoting an American Agency. 82. Price: Tuition pricing in America is structured around making it easy to quit, monthly pricing is not as important as not needing to make any commitment. In Korea it will be the opposite. Students will not mind signing non cancel agreements paid in full for 6 years as long as the rates are fair. For Korea the pricing will be a base of $900. 00 per year, for 4 classes per week, 2 hours per class, we expect class sizes to be 50-150 per class. In America our current pricing is $200. 0 per month, month to month, 2 classes per week, 50 minutes per class. Koreans will look at price per hour over the long term, wanting the most hours per week at the lowest rate with a long term commitment; Americas want to know how cheaply they can Join, and how easily they can quit, more like leasing a car. 83 Promotion: In America martial arts lessons are promoted in a disposable product manner, viewed like a 6 pack of Coke. Coupon driven society demands a call to action for a discount.Teachers are held in higher regards in Korea and it would be a disgrace to offer discounts, promotions, or marketing fluff. The Koreans will want endorsements from martial arts organizations and to see community service done by the staff. When they see us in public, they will approach us, but the Koreans will be completely turned off if the go to corner market and see â€Å"one month of lessons and a f ree uniform for 19. 99†³Ã¢â‚¬ ¦.. Word of mouth and grassroots promotion only in Korea. BE Place: 52 million people actively practice Tea Swoon Do globally; it is the most popular martial art.Korea in the past has not been accepting of foreign companies opening Dugongs in Korea, but the loss of first place in the last 3 Olympics has changed this. The OIC, International Olympic Committee has removed Baseball, Hockey, and Wrestling as of late. Talk is they will remove Karate, Judo, or Tea Swoon DO. Koreans national sport is Tea Swoon Do, and they are promising more support and resources. They will do whatever it takes to keep this Olympic Sport status. Allowing Americas Best, a proven Junior Olympic Gold Medal winning organization into Korea and supporting its grassroots movement is a given.C Ethical Issues: to us from Korea. The Koreans have warned us that Americans are viewed as fat, lazy, and abrasive. The example proven to us is Korean infant adoption, only for America do the y have a height and weight scale/range for adopting parents from America. 2) Where the money goes†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦.. Alt has also been brought to our attention from the WTFO that Koreans will need to see a direct line for their tuition to returning to the community. Unlike Americans who will buy a Toyota or Honda and not inquire where the money goes, the Koreans will need to see proof that some of it stays in the community. Sources: None.
